About Us

Why is Whitman Body Works in Abington on Route 18 near the Weymouth Line? Good Question.

After entering the autobody business in 1971, I went to work at a small shop in Quincy. As I progressed from a cleanup "kid" to autobody technician to full time painter, the shop grew dramatically. I then went to school and became a licensed appraiser to full time manager.

For various reasons I decided to take a "shot" at opening my own shop. A small garage on a side street in Whitman became available in August 1982.

Applying my years of experience, I went to work with one employee. I thought naming the shop "Whitman Body Works" was the best choice.

After years of growth and hard work, I decided I would like to build my own shop at a better location. In 1988 I noticed a "For Sale" sign nailed to a tree on Route 18. After two years of planning and Town Hearings, the land was cleared and our 10,000 square foot facility was built. The rest is history.....

Due to our dedicated staff constantly reinvesting in the most up to date equipment and constant detail to quality and customer service, we enjoyed our 20th anniversary in August of 2002!
